About us

EJ Hotels is run by two brothers Einar and Jóhann. They took over the business from their parents Johann and Eyja, who have been receiving guests since 1994. Started as dairy farmers who received guests to show their farm and share with them traditional food and stories about Iceland. The use of local products and introduction to Icelandic culture is and has been the goal of our mission.

1993 – Eyja and Jóhann moved to Moldnúpur and started farming
1994 – Started inviting guests to their house. Welcoming them with traditional flatbread with smoked lamb and pancakes. Introducing guests to Anna´s story, Icelandic culture, and traditions.
2001 – Opened a restaurant at the farm for taking the same groups in a more spacious, organised setting.
2002 - Opened Hotel Anna. Offering farm stay accommodation in 5 rooms.
2003 – Stopped farming, dedicated all their energy to hospitality. Introducing Anna´s story to all groups at the restaurant and exhibition.
2009 – Renovated the rest of the farm and added breakfast restaurant and two extra rooms.
2014 – Hotel Skógafoss opened near the famous Skógafoss waterfall.
2019 – Hotel Anna added Deluxe Apartments.
2023 – EJ Hotels founded to serve customers at Hotel Anna, Hotel Skógafoss and Hotel Skogá.
